Frequently asked questions

MFC stands for melamine faced chipboard, and is made of wood chips formed into dense particleboard, and then bonded to melamine resin impregnated paper.  This compaction and layering gives a very hard wearing surface that is easy to work with for installers.  MFC desktops can also be referred to in the industry as 'Melamine Tops' and are extensively used in most office projects.  MFC is also used to make cabinets, partitions and kitchen carcasses.

Our stock range of standard desktops, as with most office furniture, are made from MFC.  These have a thickness of 25mm and are all FSC certified, and are safe to use with any cleaning chemicals.

Absolutely nothing - they are all the same concept, but some companies advertise standing desks that aren't adjustable (designed for standing only), so always check the height range (or stroke) and the motor capacity to make sure that yours will facilitate both sitting and standing!  All desks in the Lavoro Design range are fully adjustable.

Yes.  All frames from Lavoro Design are manufactured with recycled steel, and all desktops with wood content are sourced sustainably, with FSC certification.  All of our height adjustable standing desks operate with a standby power of less than 0.3w, and will not have a noticable effect on any electricity bill.

In respect of any goods returned, which have been cancelled within seven days of receiving the order, Lavoro will refund the price in full, for any elements of the desk that have not been made-to-order. Any desk tops that have been drilled or altered in any way cannot be returned unless deemed to be faulty, or not as ordered.  If an order has been cancelled within 28 days of receiving the goods, we shall examine the returned order within a reasonable time. Where goods are found to be defective, the price of the goods will be refunded in full. All goods must be returned unused, in their original packaging and in a re-saleable condition. The buyer is also responsible for the costs of returning the goods and arranging the return to us at Lavoro.

As all of our sit-stand desks are delivered in two or more parcels - the desk top and frame are always separate parcels.  As the desk tops boxes are always between 100cm and 200cm long, they are classed by the courier networks as being non-conveyable items.  This can sometimes result in them being routed seperately by the delivering depot.  When this occurs, the missing parcel is delivered by the same driver the following day in nearly all cases.  If you are worried about the status of a delivery, then call our customer care team and they'll put your mind at rest!

Individual height adjustable desks are usually delivered in two parcels by next day courier.  Due to the nature of these products, the boxes are large and heavy, so are sometimes manually processed by the delivery depots, and very occasionally result in a delay.  If your customer hasn’t received an order, call our customer care team on 0330 133 1112, and you will quickly be provided with a live update of the delivery.

Yes we do! We can send your orders direct to the consumer, completely unbranded or with your paperwork and labels. This way, Lavoro are taken out of the equation and your customers believe their goods have come direct from yourselves.

At Lavoro, we offer FREE Next Day Delivery if ordered before 3pm. We know that nobody likes to wait weeks on end for their orders to arrive which is why speed is very important to us! We have two options for delivery, parcels or pallets, depending on products and size of order! If ordering larger quantities, we work on a very short lead time and will update you throughout the production and delivery process.

We believe that our range of height adjustable desks are the most stable option on the market.  The nature of any object of the dimensions of a height adjustable desk will be prone to some movement when at height, but this is minimal, and the desks are precision engineered to ensure you have the best, most stable user experience.  We would recommend ensuring all fixings are tightened correctly, and the use of a quality monitor arm to ensure that your monitor/equipment on your height adjustable desk is secure.

With the exception of our Collaborate desk, which uses a Linak system, all of our standing desks use a top-end European electric system produced by LogicData.

All of our products have a 5 Year Guarantee on all components – motors, desktops, frames and accessories. We have a very strict policy on where we source our components, which is why all of our products are UK and European built and made up of the best quality materials.

Our  standing desks are all of UK and European origin, with all major components, including motors being manufactured in Sweden.  This ensures that we have 100% control over the quality as it passes through production at all stages.

All of our stock décors are made using Egger and Kronospan décor boards.  This means that you are guaranteed to get the best finish, and exceed expectations on any job involving height adjustable desks.  For any bespoke projects, we can work with any manufacturer of your clients choice, including Polyrey, Arper, Fenix, Formica and all others.  To make sure that every height adjustable standing desk that leaves our factory is the best possible quality, we will carefully vet any manufacturers that haven't been previously used.

All of our models are different; thus the laden weight capacity differs from model to model.  All weight capacity information is listed on each individual desk page, and varies between 100kg and 160kg on all standard, stock height adjustable desk frames.

Anti-Collision in the sit-stand desk industry is a difficult concept to explain, as technically no desk can avoid a collision.  What is referred to as anti-collision is in fact impact protection – where a desk will stop if it encounters a solid object when it is either rising or being lowered.  The motors/electrics on all our desks are programmed to sense the extra pressure that the obstacle puts on them, and intelligently stop, and traverse the opposite way to ease the pressure.  If you would like extra protection, where the desk will stop movement at the slightest tap, we can then offer a plug in module to increase sensitivity.

Yes!  We can manufacture desk frames in any RAL colour, on a lead time of 6 weeks.  We can also manufacture tops in any Egger or Kronospan décor, and in most natural wood types.  Speak to one of our sales team to ask how we can create desk to you exact specification!

Yes!  We will need an EORI number and a commercial invoice, then we can ship your orders all over the globe.  Please consult with our team before ordering height adjustable desks for delivery outside of the UK, as these will need to be manufactured with the correct control boxes and power leads for your chosen destination.

No! We offer free delivery on all orders being shipped to one address in Mainland UK, with the exclusion of highlands and islands which will both require us to provide a price at the time of enquiry.  For all single orders and samples, goods will be despatched on day of order, for free of charge delivery the following working day.  We can also delivery on weekends and bank holidays, with pricing for both on application.

Building all products from Lavoro Design can be achieved with one person.  We would always recommend allowing for another person to be present to assist with any lifting and moving of the desk when the build process has been completed.  Height Adjustable Standing Desks have a minimum weight of 50kg, due to the high-grade steel and heavy duty motors used.

Our installers usually take between 15 and 25 minutes to build a desk frame, and the record set by one of our technical team is just 12 minutes! We’d always allow extra time to ensure that cables are nicely managed, and that all surfaces are left clean and tidy.  If a client wishes to build a desk themselves, and hasn’t done so before, then our advice would be to allow 30-60 minutes to complete.  We offer comprehensive videos on each of our product pages to assist with the building process.

 No!  Our highly efficient fulfilment systems allow for any small order to be processed with the same tenacious care and attention to detail as larger products, so if you are just looking for one height adjustable standing desk then will gladly send out single products.  This also works well if you are operating a business based on a supplier drop-shipping model.

A memory controller offers four settable heights that are stored in the desk’s memory.  This means that favourite heights for standing, sitting, meetings, times of day etc can be stored.  It also allows multiple users to hot-desk and each have their own saved height setting.

Our reset procedure is very simple and takes just a few seconds.  Please visit our technical section and view the video for full details.  Simply hold the ‘down’ button or your hand control and let the desk lower to its lowest possible position.  Once it is in the lowest position, press and hold again for 15 seconds, or until you hear a click.  This click is an indication that the desk has been reset, and now should operate as normal.  Due to residual power in the desk’s control box, it may be required to reset the height adjustable desk after a power cut, or after unplugging the desk for considerable lengths of time.  It is important to note that this is a safety feature and does not mean that there is something wrong with your desk!

Yes!  Whatever size existing tops you have on your old static desk or standing desk, we have solutions to fit.  We can also provide fixings on request to facilitate this.  All height adjustable desks on our website clearly show the sizes of desk top they are suited to, but if you are unsure of which frame is best for you, then our customer care team will talk you through your choices.
